Providing Homemade Baked Goods Without Preservatives and with 100% Freshly Milled Flour
This Podcast Changed My Life
Hi, I’m Sarah! I was already deep into my bakery journey when a friend sent me this podcast. I listened, and everything thing changed. Bread (and gluten), which seemed to be a problem for so many, was not the issue! As it turns out, the way we process our flour is what is making people sick. And processed flour is in EVERYTHING. After hearing this, I geeked out on the topic learning as much as I could. And that’s when I made the decision to transition to only 100% freshly milled flour for my family and my bakery. To make bread with all the nutrients, flavor, and goodness that God intended!
What does "Stay Crusty" mean? Let me explain:
Kind of weird, right? The origin started as a playful double meaning. On the one-hand, I make sourdough! And with sourdough, you want a delicious, crispy crust. I package my sourdough in paper bags, not plastic so that it stays crusty. On the other hand (on the more comical side), it’s a playful poke at northern Idaho and Priest River, a town that sometimes looks a little… well… crusty. Which is part of its identity and many people seem to want to keep it that way. For us, it’s a tagline that is fun, different, and it has stuck! We’ve used it on stickers, t-shirts, and even named our renovated horse trailer the Crusty Wagon, which was definitely a little crusty when it came into our possession. So, we lovingly say, “Keep Priest River Crusty”, and in short, stay crusty.
